WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 6 Coffee Filters
- Red Food Coloring
- Scissors
- Thin wire (such as a twist tie)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Fill two bowls with water.
- Carefully drop red food coloring to the water (approximately 10 drops into one bowl and 5 drops into the other bowl).
- Place 2 coffee filters in the bowl with 10 drops of food coloring, and 4 filters in the bowl with 5 drops.
- After a minute or two, once the filters have been evenly dyed, remove them from the water and allow to dry.
- To assemble the flower, gather 2 filters with the darkest color. Fold in half, then cut the edge in a zig-zag pattern.
- Gather 4 filters in the lighter color, fold in half and then cut the edge in a rounded (wavy or scalloped) pattern.
- Unfold the filters and stack the darkest on top. Take the wire and loop through the center of the stacked filters. Pull tight. Fold or twist, then trim excess wire.
- Take each filter in the stack and scrunch it together to form a flower. Fluff and shape to your liking.
- Place on a table by itself or inside a clear glass vase as shown. Or combine with additional flowers to create a bouquet.
