WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Heavy weight paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Wooden chopstick
- Push pin
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Cut the paper into a 8 1/2 inch by 8 1/2 inch square.
- With scissors, cut the paper inward at each corner. Stop about 1/2 inch from the center.
- If you want, you can make designs on the paper or color each fold with a different color of felt marker. It’s best to do this prior to gluing.
- Fold each corner over to the middle and glue. Press and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat for each corner. (If the corner doesn’t stay down, don’t worry, just keep going until every corner is folded over and glued.)
- Use a push pin to anchor the folds in the center and tack on a cork board or other surface to let dry for one hour.
- After the glue is dry, carefully remove the pinwheel from the cork board and push the pin into the top end of a wooden chopstick (the kind you typically get with takeout Asian meals). Twist back and forth to anchor it. BE CAREFUL NOT TO ACCIDENTALLY TO PUSH THE PIN INTO YOUR THUMB!
- Spin the wheel to make sure it turns. Place in lawn. Best on a breezy day!
